Brow B.F.F. Kit January Product Feature 2012

This darling Makeup Bag is yours FREE in January when you purchase any three Billion Dollar Brows Products! And, when you can double your Rewards points, you’re really getting a great deal.

Brow Boost is my biggest seller, I use it, and it really works to grow stubborn brows. It also helps you keep the brows you have! $20

Brow Duo Highlighter is awesome to carry in your purse (in this little bag!). I use it for touch-ups with the concealer end throughout the day. Using the highlighter end can transform your makeup quickly from day to evening: Apply to the inner corners of your eyes, the “cupid’s bow” of your lip, the high-point of your brow arch, or make your eyes  look bigger and clearer by putting highlighter on the tear-line. This big, fat,  2 in 1 pencil contains jojoba seed oil so it’s good for your skin too. $18

The Brow Gel is a must-have for setting perfect brows as well as holding the color you’ve applied, and the chamomile flower extract conditions. $15

Since Trucco went out of business, taking with it my beloved Hi-Brow Trio (which, by the way, if you bought it, you’ll be glad you did because now it’s on ebay for $133!) I’ve had to find eyebrow colors I like as well to replace it. And I’d say BDB Brow Powder in Blond, Taupe, Light Brown and Raven (new), do a great job. Using two or three of these versatile colors make a great shadow collection as well: Use Blond as your all-over base, Light Brown to begin to contour (I’ll teach you to do this next time your in), and finish with Taupe, or for more drama – Raven. $16

The Universal Brow Pencil is pretty versatile because it matches most eyebrow colors. Pencils are great for those with sparse brows. I like to use pencil first to define and make my Powder “stick”. $15

And finally the Brow Brush, a two-in-one tool with an angle brush for applying brow powder on one end and a spoolie on the other for softening the effect. You don’t know how much flaking I see on the skin under the average brow. Use the spoolie to soften and provide a bit of exfoliation after pencil, powder, and even gel. $15

What are Rewards?

If you’re new to Star Brows, you may not know about The Monthly Product Feature or Rewards yet. To put it simply, 10% of all your product purchases, all the time, go toward free Service Enhancements like Raindrop Therapy, Lash Tint, Chemical Peels, or Star Massage.

When a product is the Monthly Feature, however, you’ll get 20% back in Rewards. This month’s featured product: Pick 3 BDB Products with FREE Makeup Bag ($8 value). Depending on which products you choose, you’ll get at least $9 in rewards, and up to $12.

See you at the spa!

New Years Eve Makeup 2012!

Happy New Year’s Eve party preparations to all of you! We’ll be ringing in the New Year at A Twilight Masquerade at my dad’s place: Robert Hall Winery.

I want to look my best, and I want you to look your best, too – even if you’re not planning to go out for NYE! So, here are ten steps to flawless looking makeup:

1. Healthy Skin is the most important start to great makeup, and while you can’t change your skin in 24 hours, you can do the following:

  • Drink a ton of water the day of and the proceeding days. If you’ll be drinking, this is mandatory.
  • Eat healthy and regular meals the day of the bash.
  • Get plenty of rest the night before.

2. Cleanse A proper morning cleanse and evening cleanse are vital. The correct cleanser for your skin type is probably the most important decision you’ll make toward having the best skin possible.

3. Exfoliate – A few days before the big night, start using masks, peels, and scrubs. The Cleansing Oil is also an excellent way to polish, exfoliate, and brighten your skin: Do a 20-minute massage with it instead of the normal quick cleanse. (Did you know the Cleansing Oil takes off makeup really well? Buh-bye, makeup dissolver.)

Of course, hopefully you have consulted a skincare professional about which products are best for your skin. If you trust your exfoliant not to cause a breakout or irritate your skin, using one even the night before will help your skin look radiant.

My picks: Gyco-A GelCrystal C Serum and Peeling Cream.

4. Moisturize – Those of you who read my blog regularly know that when you discipline the skin, you also need to use plenty of TLC. Moisturize the entire face, neck, and décolleté, as well as the eye area. Even oily and acne-prone skin types need moisturizer. Your makeup will look so much better if your skin is well-hydrated.

My picks: Hy-DrateVitamin CreamChamomileEye Plus Cream, Lipo-Gen.

5. Prime – Every great artist knows that preparing the canvas is key. Getting the skin ready for the application of cosmetics makes the finished “look” so much better. Absorb Oil Control is perfect for oily and acne-prone skin: It is an oil controller and hydrator in one. Mineral Primer will fill in the fine lines and imperfections and make your foundation last. Use Concealer around the eye area or any other area where skin color is irregular.

6. Apply Foundation – Youngblood Mineral Makeup is my favorite makeup base. Use a small brush for extra coverage in the areas that need it. Use a darker color to contour, like the hollows of your cheeks or the sides of your nose. Contour the eyes with shades of brown, especially if you have droopy lids. (Remember: dark recedes, light brings forward.) Highlighter under the brow bone accentuates the arch. I carry BDB Duo Concealer: it’s a pencil with concealer on one end and highlighter on the other – another “twofer”!

7. Add Color – Glitter (small particles, used sparingly) is a hot look for NYE. Aging skin doesn’t do well with glitter, though. I personally like the Youngblood Mineral Makeup in the color Sunglow for sparkle and pop. Blush should be applied to the apple of the cheek only if you have a very thin and long face, so you can create width. If your face is round, apply blush on the cheek starting at the edge of the iris and swooping up to the temples and into the hairline.

Shadow color can be added next. Remember: if you are playing up the eyes, go easy on the lips, and vice versa. Youngblood Mineral Eyeshadow is amazing – long-lasting and smudge-proof.

Eyeliner (MUA Michelle Phan gives some options), is probably the biggest statement in makeup. Youngblood Pencils with Rhus Succedanea Fruit Wax and Coco- Glycerides is so easy to use. If your lids are crepey/droopy you may not be able to rock the winged effect on the upper lid but try this:

Stretch the edge of the eye so the skin is taught (be careful not to pull too tight, it can damage the delicate eye area), then line the lower lid very close to the lashes and wing it up and out!

8. Lashes – Lash Extensions in a tube! Blackout Mineral Mascara by Youngblood is great.  It has little fibers, and is thickening and lengthening.  Lash Primer, underwear for the lashes. 🙂 is also excellent for extra volume and conditioning. For those of us who need to curl our lashes, I like the MAC curler best.

9. Lips – I recommend a lip pencil and plumping colored gloss – both by Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics. You’ll get rich, highly pigmented color with the pencil and hydration with the gloss.

10. Eyebrows – Getting the right shape requires professional help – at least to get you started and at best for maintenance. You’re not stuck with the eyebrows you have: You can create the perfect brows at home.  How? If you have thinning brows, start using Brow Boost right away. All the Billion Dollar Brows products rock! Cosmetics for creating the perfect eyebrows – like pencils, powders, and brow-setting gel – will transform blah brows into bomb brows!

Have a great time, and Happy New Year to you all!

See you at the spa!

New Years Eve Makeup 2011!

Unfortunately my “pre-bash massage” was just cancelled – dang 🙁 – so I’m writing an NYE makeup post instead!

Happy New Year’s party preparations to all of you! I’m getting ready for The Golden Era event at my father’s winery. I want to look my best, and I want you to look your best too – even if you’re not planning to go out for NYE! Here are eight steps to a flawless look:

1. Exfoliate – Perfect makeup requires well-tended skin. A week to a couple of days before the big night start doing masks, peels, and scrubs. The Cleansing Oil is also an excellent way to polish, exfoliate, and brighten your skin: Do a 20-minute massage with it instead of the normal quick cleanse. (Did you know the Cleansing Oil takes off makeup really well? Buh-bye makeup dissolver.)

Of course, hopefully you have consulted a skincare professional about what products are best for your skin. If you trust your exfoliant not to cause a breakout or irritate your skin, using one even the night before will help your skin look radiant.

My picks: Gyco-A Gel, Crystal C Serum and Peeling Cream. Just so happens two of these are January’s Product Feature with Double Rewards!

2. Moisturize – Those of you who read my blog regularly know that when you discipline the skin, you also need to use plenty of TLC. Moisturize the entire face, neck, and décolleté, as well as the eye area. Even oily and acne-prone skin types need moisturizer. Your makeup will look so much better if your skin is well hydrated.

Shadow color can be added next. Remember: if you are playing up the eyes, go easy on the lips, and vice versa.

6. Lashes – Blackout Mineral Mascara by Youngblood. I always use two mascaras. I find I get the best lashes that way. Lash Primer is also excellent for extra volume and conditioning. For those of us who need to curl our lashes, I like the MAC curler best.

7. Lips Bright and bold is on trend for both NYE and spring 2011. I like recommending a lip pencil and plumping colored gloss – both by Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.

8. Eyebrows – Getting the right shape requires professional help – at least to get you started, at best for maintenance. Billion Dollar Brows at Star Brows!

My first California brow design was done at Billion Dollar Brows (BDB) in Beverly Hills. This is the company that helped inspire me to take my passion for perfect brows and make it a business!

They contacted me the other day and sent their whole product line for me to sample! Generous, huh? I love to shop for you, finding the perfect products at the best prices.

It was great timing because I have been looking for the right brow and lash conditioner with a growth stimulant.

Brow Boost – Get thick, full brows & lashes. This deep conditioning treatment is designed to help strengthen and condition thin, over-tweezed brows.

• Natural formula with no scary side effects: prostaglandin free.

• So effective, you will see visibly fuller brows in as little as 30 days.

• A natural anti-aging solution: Fuller eyebrows create a more youthful look, without any risk or worry.

• Lab tested safe for eyes and skin: passed USA & EU regulations.

• With over five years on the market, Brow Boost is proven to work. Loyal customers swear by Brow Boost’s ability to thicken and condition their brows and lashes — and love its affordable, reasonable price too! $20

• Frame your face perfectly with full, thick brows. Brow Boost helps balance out uneven brows, putting your facial features back into focus.

• Pencil thin brows are so “out.” Brow Boost will help you say goodbye to thin brows and update your “look” with fuller, healthier, more defined brows.
